A food filled field trip was had for these Intro to Foods & Culinary students!
First stop: The @cookieco in Gretna. Jeff and Tara Smith spoke to us about what it’s like running a new business (they just opened the first Cookie Co in December) and we got to weigh and bake some cookies of our own! 🍪
Stop 2: Both Intro to Foods and Culinary students were able to meet the Ashland-Greenwood students who took the class via zoom over the past 2 years! Fun to see each other in person! And of course deliver some of those freshly baked cookies from the Cookie Co 😋
Third & Final Stop: Parker’s Smokehouse for lunch (paid for by their Giltner Goodies profit) and a tour of the restaurant! Owner Jeff Parker spoke about his journey to being a successful restaurant owner and then showed us the behind scenes! 👩🏼🍳
A fun day for all!

Junior Hornets competed well at a tough CRC conference meet. Girls got 5th & boys 8th.
Medalists were:
Myiah - 4x100 relay 5th place
Jayci - 4x100 relay 5th place & Triple jump 2nd place
Kaden - Long jump 5th place & 800 2nd place & 1600 CHAMPION
Peyton - 200 hurdles 3rd place & pole vault 2nd place & 100 hurdles CHAMPION
McKaya - shot put 5th place & 4x100 relay 5th place

Congrats to Mrs. Hinrichs and her economic students on placing 1st in the Nebraska Stock Market Challenge overall in both spring & fall competition in the state of NE (Kylon Jurgens, Caleb Schrock-Schmitt, & Cooper Reeson) and 2nd place in the fall season (Marshall Humphrey & Phillip Kreutz). There were over 500 school teams across the state of Nebraska competing, what an accomplishment! Students attended the Banquet of Champions today where they presented their strategies of picking their winning stocks and listened to a speaker. Great job Hornets, state champs looks good on you! #HornetHype
