My name is Christopher Pietrzak, and I am honored and excited to serve as Principal for Giltner Public Schools starting in the 2021-2022 school year. I am from Capac Michigan and a 2001 graduate of Capac Jr./Sr. High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. While attending, I was a member of both the varsity football and club ice hockey teams. I obtained my teaching certification from Saginaw Valley State University in Port Huron, Michigan. I earned my Master’s Degree from Arkansas State University in PK-12th Grade Educational Leadership. I began my teaching career at Crossroads Alternative High School in 2006 in Capac Michigan. I moved to Hartsville, South Carolina in 2007 where I taught Physical Education and Health at Hartsville Middle School. In 2010, I began working at West Hartsville Elementary, North Hartsville Elementary, and Thornwell School for the Arts teaching Physical Education. In 2012, I taught Physical Education and Health at Mayo High School for Math, Science, and Technology where I served as Teacher of the Year in 2016-2017. Last February I accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Blenheim Middle School of Discovery in Blenheim, South Carolina. I have been in education for a total of fourteen years. In addition to teaching, I was also the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Hartsville Middle School and became a varsity football coach for Hartsville High School from 2012 - 2020. I have also served as a J.V. baseball coach at Hartsville High School from 2010 - 2014, and the Hartsville High School Strength and Conditioning coach from 2014- 2020. My wife, Jennifer is a McCook native and is also in education, currently teaching the advanced arts and IB Visual Arts at Hartsville High School. Jennifer has accepted the 6-12 art position at Wood River Middle/High School for the 2021-2022 school year. She has taught Visual Arts for twenty-three years. We have four children Kyler (29) currently in Charleston, South Carolina, Braden (20) a Junior at UNL, Savannah (12), and Jaxson (9) are both excited to be a part of the Giltner community. They are both very active in sports and other school-wide activities. Outside spending time with my family, my other interests include playing golf, fly fishing, hunting, and watching college football. GO BLUE!!
